Honey Garlic Chicken

This Honey Garlic Chicken recipe is a perfect solution for a quick and flavourful weeknight dinner. With minimal effort, you can create a delicious meal that will please the whole family. The glaze, made with simple pantry ingredients like soy sauce, honey, garlic, and lime juice, adds a burst of flavour to tender chicken breasts. Served with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and green onions, this dish is as visually appealing as it is tasty.

  • 60 ml low-sodium soy sauce
  • 45 ml honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 2 tbs KIFG Garlic Granules)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 30 ml sesame oil, divided
  • 5 ml Sriracha
  • 15 ml cornstarch
  • 450 g boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to 175°C.

Step 2: Prepare the Glaze
In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, lime juice, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, Sriracha, and cornstarch until well combined. Set aside.

Step 3: Season the Chicken
Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.

Step 4: Sear the Chicken
In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, heat the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side.

Step 5: Add the Glaze and Bake
Pour the prepared glaze over the seared chicken in the skillet. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink.

Step 6: Broil the Chicken
Once the chicken is cooked through, switch the oven to broil. Spoon some of the glaze over the chicken and broil for an additional 2 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized.

Step 7: Garnish and Serve
Remove the skillet from the oven and garnish the chicken with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
