A simple but delicious side dish for all seasons. Our garlicky broccolini recipe combines some of the best Aussie produce, perfect for accompanying a local cut of steak or seared fish.

Fun fact: Broccolini isn't a plant type (like broccoli or garlic); it's a trademarked cross-varietal exclusively grown and distributed in Australia by only one company!

Ingredients

1 bunch of broccolini
1 tbsp olive oil
1-2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tbsp slivered almonds
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup water

Method

  1. Trim about 1/2-inch off the bottom of the Broccolini stems.
  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the Broccolini and sauté for 5 minutes, or until it's bright green and some of the stems and tips of the florets are lightly charred.
  4. Add the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until it's fragrant.
  5. Carefully add the water, cover, and steam the Broccolini for 1-2 minutes, until it's al dente.
  6. Serve immediately with the slivered almonds scattered over the top.
