A simple but delicious side dish for all seasons. Our garlicky broccolini recipe combines some of the best Aussie produce, perfect for accompanying a local cut of steak or seared fish.
Fun fact: Broccolini isn't a plant type (like broccoli or garlic); it's a trademarked cross-varietal exclusively grown and distributed in Australia by only one company!
Ingredients
1 bunch of broccolini
1 tbsp olive oil
1-2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tbsp slivered almonds
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup water
Method
- Trim about 1/2-inch off the bottom of the Broccolini stems.
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the Broccolini and sauté for 5 minutes, or until it's bright green and some of the stems and tips of the florets are lightly charred.
- Add the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until it's fragrant.
- Carefully add the water, cover, and steam the Broccolini for 1-2 minutes, until it's al dente.
- Serve immediately with the slivered almonds scattered over the top.
